Benefits Oil Pulling Can Provide

Oil pulling is simply using coconut oil as a mouthwash to prevent cavities, reduce bad breath, and prevent inflammation of your games. This is especially important for people who need help reducing gum inflammation due to gum disease.

But how easy is it to do, and how beneficial can it be? Not sure how to get started? We have a few tips for you.

Benefits and How-To’s of Oil Pulling

One of the benefits of oil pulling is how easy it is to add it to your routine. In fact, you probably already have coconut oil in your kitchen, so there are no really fancy ingredients you need to buy. While in the past a lot of people rinsed their mouths with sesame oil, a lot of people are using coconut oil because coconut oil has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that cannot be found in sesame oil.

To do oil pulling, you will need to be sure you have a few minutes to try it out. You need to measure one tablespoon of coconut oil. You will need to swish it around in your mouth for 20 minutes. Be sure that you don’t swallow any. Many people find that it is easier to swish the oil around in your mouth if you find an activity to keep you occupied while your swishing: such as doing a load of laundry, sorting laundry, sweeping floors, or cleaning a bathroom. Some people find that they can swish more easily if they are fully focused on it.

After you have swished for 20 minutes, be sure that you spit the oil into the trash can, rather than a sink or toilet, because those could become clogged. Rinse your mouth well before you eat or drink anything. Some people advocate swishing for 5 minutes after oil pulling with water to make sure you can eat or drink something else.
